Healthy Ageing is a basic Human Right!

As we approach the end of Special Senior September, it is important to consider that Healthy Ageing is a basic Human Right.
The entire decade of 2020 to 2030 has been assigned The Decade Of Healthy Ageing by the United Nations and embodies 5 Principles:
1/Independence
2/ Participation
3/ Care
4/Self-Fulfillment and
5/Dignity
While these are fundamental rights of all people, for Older Persons this takes on special considerations as there are varying viewpoints on the “value” attributed to ageing , many of which may, instead, lead to these principles being threatened and contributes to age discrimination, among other negative features Older Persons face in the community, family or even the workplace.
One of my passionate statements: “ageing is NOT a disease; it is simply a process”, encourages the concept that it is simply ok to age; the inevitability and decline previously associated with older age is no longer the case in an ageing world.
Let us embrace these fundamentals; see each other in an atmosphere of acceptance, understanding, empathy and love .
September 2024 is coming to a close, but Older Persons are with us everyday; we are all ageing as well anyway- let it be Healthy.
You Got This!!!💘🎯We Got This!🎯💘🫱🏽🫲🏾!
