Welcome back!
Gents!! THIS special month is for YOU! From me👩🏽⚕️😊👍🏽💎🩺💙
It is a worldwide fact that in general, men do NOT seek medical advice on a routine/annual basis. WHY?? ( we ladies and doctors as)?
This November- let's BREAK that cycle:
This 1st of November, the focus is on screening after 65 years.
What is recommended?
Research advises the following (adapted from
💙Physical exam: blood pressure, height and weight, waist circumference and prostate exam.
💙Blood screening: fasting blood sugar, fasting lipid profile, thyroid function especially after 70.
💙Vaccines: influenza, covid-19, Haemophilus Influenza A and B; Hepatitis A/B, Tdap, Pneumovax/Prevnar and Shingles (some)
💙STI screening: based on risk.
💙Especially if there is even a trace of memory impairment- Dementia Screen
💙Cardiovascular screening:: which can range from basic ECG/EKG, depending on the risk and any symptoms
💙💙Cancer screening: PROSTATE, colon ( lung as well as skin exam- depending on your overall risk)
💙Osteoporosis: screening should be considered in men over 70, men who lose height over time or have a low impact fracture.
💙Fall risk assessment should be completed.
💙 DON' T neglect your Eye exam.
What action step will you take TODAY?
💙Prevention, Preparation, Protection💙

Welcome back!
Gents!! THIS one is also for YOU! From me👩🏽⚕️😊👍🏽
🤫💙The issue that scares you, shames you
🤫💙The issue that you mention LAST of all at your doctor's appointment
🤫💙Yet, the ONLY issue that MAY bring you to the doc!
ED - Erectile Dysfunction! 🤫🤫
Seems strange coming from me- your "lady doc" ? (Not really)
What is ED?
Erectile dysfunction, also known as impotence, is the inability to get and keep an erection firm enough for sex.
There are many reasons for this happening occasionally, but if erectile dysfunction is an ongoing issue, it can cause distress, affect your self-confidence and create disruption in your intimate relationship
It is not all "down there" , however. ED may actually be a warning sign of serious underlying health conditions that need treatment, including heart disease.
This is because any condition that affects blood flow to the body in general (arteries specifically), may also impede blood flow to the glans penis, hence, ED.This includes the Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs), of hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol, and especially when these are uncontrolled.
Erectile dysfunction symptoms might include persistent:
💙Trouble getting an erection
💙Trouble keeping an erection
💙Reduced sexual desire
There may also be emotional reasons for ED .
Whatever the cause, the issue can so negatively impact your life at all levels, not to mention place you in danger from the consequences of NCDs (heart attack and stroke are just two of these)
What action step will you take TODAY?
💙Prevention, Preparation, Protection💙
Good vibes always!💗

Lana's Little Things Day #133- Codependency Hooks! Caution! ⚠️🪝💗🪝
#codependency #caregiverslife #relationships #stayfocused #healthyboundaries #newyear2024 #lanaslittlethings
Hi friends!
Codependency! 🪝💗🪝
The "hooks" can be disheartening and cause you to lose who you are in the process of being the one "who fixes", the one who "is always there to help".🤔(in any relationship).
In the context of elderly parent and family caregiver relationships, codependency occurs when the caregiver's sense of purpose and self-worth becomes overly reliant on meeting the parent's/spouses' needs, often at the expense of their own well-being.
⚠️🪝💗🪝Don't lose who you are!🙏🏽
What to do?
Set boundaries in love and kindness🚧💗
Seek support from others (yes, ask for help!)
Make self-care your priority!
Encourage the parent's/spouse's independence where possible- let them take "agency and accountability wherever possible.
The result? A healthier and more balanced relationship dynamic.
Yes , Yes?👍🏽😊
From my heart to yours always!💗
