When Caregiving ends, the roller coaster of :
🥲Grief
🥲Guilt - did I do anything wrong? Also guilt because of relief from the load of Caregiving, can feel like betrayal.
🥲Regret
🥲Second-guessing
🥲Doubt- did I do the right thing? What went wrong?
🥲Emptiness
🥲Loss of purpose and even identity- who AM I now, because Caregiving WAS your identity
ALL of these feelings- ARE normal- roll with them- you may just burst into tears in the supermarket because the "list" is no more
🔊TALK! Don't isolate yourself, but take time to be alone- just to "be"- pray, meditate, breathe.
If overwhelmed, you may need professional help to get you through.

Welcome to this fourth and final interview in Special Senior September with one of my dear friends and medical colleague, Mechell, a nurse with an extraordinary passion for WELLNESS from birth through to older age.
Nurse Mechell is a well-known, loved and respected midwife, public health nurse and advocate for community wellness at all ages and stages. She was awarded the Public Health Nurse of The Year in 2024.
In addition to handling these roles , she has held several national leadership roles around managing Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and Women's unique concerns.
In 2006, she made history as only the 2nd Barbadian to serve as Regional Nursing Director for Region 4 of The Caribbean Nurses Organisation, where she advanced leadership in Nursing across the Caribbean.
Nurse Mechell has also delivered numerous public health lectures on a myriad of topics from climate change to family wellness.
Integrating NCD prevention, gentle parenting and plant-centred food security solutions Nurse Mechell makes birth a happy , empowering event, and firmly believes that the Older Generation carries the gems💎💎💎 of wisdom and ought to be provided for and have full participation in day-to-day life and the Environment as a means of bridging deep chasms that occur amongst persons of different age groups.
