There are times when you have to remove the "super cape " of being a loyal, kind, self-sacrificing Caregiver and yet you feel unappreciated, misunderstood, and "unheard". ๐ค๐ก๐
Fun fact: "you're human". It happens.๐ค
You're body is NOT breaking down!
It's crying out for "my turn!" Time to hit the mental and emotional "reset" buttonโฑ๏ธ๐๐
You know the what to do, what keeps drilling in your ears: selfcare, take care of you"; have a self-care routine" .....
And all you're thinking is "HOW?" no sleep, 24 hr a day duty. Where am i going to find the time?
It's not the time, or the love you have; it's the .......
๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅWHY, WHY , WHY exactly is "self-care" so VITAL?
Because, we are our BEST when we have PURPOSE, and getting back to your "why" can go a long way.
Here are 5 WAYS why self care matters:
๐๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ1/Your MENTAL and EMOTIONAL HEALTH and stability- your brain and body then feel "taken care of"- reduces the need (most times), for things such as sleep aids, and maybe not so healthy ways of coping.
๐๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ2/ Self care reminds you that YOU MATTER, - when you give yourself care, it is SELF-RESPECT and SELF-REGARD - this has been shown to greatly reduce the feelings of resentment and burnout.
๐๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ 3/ PHYSICALLY- you are stronger, more healthy, less risk of NCDs such as hypertension - live long and prosper! (For all my fellow "TREKKIES"๐ค๐ฅฐ)
๐๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ4/ Feeling better makes the WORK of Caregiving more joyful than painful- it's hard, but doable; positive vibes! The energy in the room!! AWESOME!!๐ฅ
Caregiving is not for the fainthearted, and there are times when you need to let yourself be taken care of.

When was the last time you made time to spend time as Family?
STRONG families make strong communities and reduce the loneliness and isolation that we ALL feel! (Am I right? Right?๐๐).
Here are 6 quick suggestions on making regular (not sporadic), REGULAR time for Family to be together )even if we are not in the same room: "Proximity is Power"!-thanks "sis"Jana!)
!/ Family picnic/Mealtime- It does NOT have to be elaborate- Have a picnic ! ๐งบ๐ฒ๐ป๐น๐บ
2/ Family games night- have everyone involved!๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ธ๐๐ณ๐งฉ๐งฉ๐งฉ(puzzle games, Scrabbleยฎ๏ธ and whatever you like!)
3/ Research you Family Tree! ๐ฒ- Knowing your heritage is such a groundlevel mark to knowing where you come from and whose shoulders we all stand on!
4/ Create a Scrapbook and put in your favourite picture or news event- another connection ; another way to learn and connect๐๐
5/ Plant a tree or kitchen garden together๐น๐ฒ๐๐๐๐(Carbon footprint!)
6/ VIRTUAL Family night- once a week- for 15 , 20 minutes ( it is usually more depending on who talks the most๐ lol!), lockdown taught us that we can STILL see, interact and connect with each other even if we are miles away!๐ป๐ป๐ป๐ป๐ป
"The Family that connects together , stays together" ( my new expression- I'm claiming it lol๐!
