Welcome back, friend!
My FIRST "LIVE" for 2025!π
Just 18 days into this New Year - are you feeling inspired? Or already overwhelmed at the sheer volume of things to do?
Encouragement basically comes from a root word meaning "calling to one's side" (To inspire with courage, spirit, or hope.β) and we can all do with those in our lives who lift us up!ππ«π―
We all battle moments of self-doubt, insecurity, and discouragement; moments where we can feel like giving up rather than going on. And we ALL need even a little encouragement to continue, whether just navigating daily life , but especially when going through tough times or moments when we are just tired and feel like giving up.
Our words have POWER : to either encourage or discourage β there is NO middle ground.
And this is NOT difficult, but it doesn't always come naturally, so can we work , for this week , one week at a time to do one of these 4 things:
ππ«1/ SMILE- to your spouse, children even random strangers (it WORKS even in the supermarket!)
ππ«2/ WRITE: send someone a physical card, or a GIF just to say: "Thinking of you; keep going! "Don't give up!"
ππ«3/ SPEAK: just a few words- call a friend you know who is having a hard time right now; or , yes again , someone you see everyday on your route to work- a simple: "Have a good day!" can make all the difference . We just don't know what people are going through in their lives .
ππ«4/THINK encouraging thoughts- yes we can ...encourage OURSELVES! - remind ourselves that we are worthy, we have a purpose, we have value, WE MATTER. Start th eday with a prayer , requesting that our intention and our kindness to OURSELVES will set the vibes for the rest of the day , for us and all we meet!
Remember: Brain scans have shown that we get and give "good vibes " when we encourage others as well.ππ«
So whether a random stranger or your closest friend, encouragement is LIFE GIVING!
Cherish those in your life who encourage you !
Good vibes!π

Your 21-day Family Caregiver's Challenge: Thrive into 2025!πDay 19: Make Time For Friends!πππ«
#newyear2025 #sociallife #friendship #connections #familycaregiver #timeout #habitsthatwillchangeyourlife #lanaslittlethings
πππ€Day 19:Take/make time to connect with family and friends, especially your peers!
There is life in association, and the isolation (self-imposed or otherwise), from the lockdowns of COVID-19, really caused many of us to feel isolated and alone, still 5 years later!π’ (yesssss it is still here!)π’
Think of a flock of sheepππππππππππππ!
Have you ever seen sheep alone? If so, it is LOST- What does it do to signal its distress? It bleats.........LOUDLY!!!
What is YOUR distress signal?

Arrange for a friend's night out! Zoom- Facetime! A simple telephone call (remember those? LOLππ)
If a friend or relative, or even a trusted paid caregiver can arrange to come and spend just a few hours with your loved one, then arrange with YOUR peers for a "time-out together"- talk , reminisce, "get your groove back!
The association with peers who know and understand you can be such a refresher!ππ«π«
Schedule the time, do not wait for a "chance encounter"!

WHAT IS (Good) MENTAL HEALTH?
WHO defines this as: Mental health is a state of mental well-being that
enables people to cope with the stresses of life
realize their abilities
learn well and work well and
contribute to their community.
It has intrinsic and instrumental value and is integral to our well-being.
BUTTT...........
The intensity of life's challenges has increased exponentially and has taken a toll on us all:
π€―πour minds and hearts,
π€―π affecting our sleep- too much; too little
π€―π destabilizing our emotions
π€―πcreating conflict in our relationships and
π€―πcausing a surge in unhealthy coping mechanisms- substance abuse, social isolation, and withdrawal.
This affects not only our home, but notably our place of work.
Thus the WHO theme for 2024 is :βMental Health at Work"π€―ππ’
Key Messages:
πThe need for a supportive environment
πPoor working conditions and insecure jobs worsen mental health, increase stress and reduce work productivity
πBarriers to employment exist because of many factors such as ageism and other forms of discrimination, again limiting job availability and stability.
πThe need for companies and employers to increase productivity and work quality
ππππSELF CARE may sound like a stuck record, but without good mental health, there can be no other.
Water, Play, Pause, Family time, Boundaries and Goal setting are all ways to improve our Mental Health, improve family life and reduce BURNOUT!
What works for you? Give a shout out- help a friend; let us know!
You Got This!!!ππ―We Got This!π―ππ«±π½βπ«²πΎ!
