Your 21-day Family Caregiver's Challenge: Thrive into 2025!๐Day 19: Make Time For Friends!๐๐๐ซ

๐๐๐คDay 19:Take/make time to connect with family and friends, especially your peers!
There is life in association, and the isolation (self-imposed or otherwise), from the lockdowns of COVID-19, really caused many of us to feel isolated and alone, still 5 years later!๐ข (yesssss it is still here!)๐ข
Think of a flock of sheep๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐!
Have you ever seen sheep alone? If so, it is LOST- What does it do to signal its distress? It bleats.........LOUDLY!!!
What is YOUR distress signal?
โ ๏ธ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฉโ ๏ธ
Arrange for a friend's night out! Zoom- Facetime! A simple telephone call (remember those? LOL๐๐)
If a friend or relative, or even a trusted paid caregiver can arrange to come and spend just a few hours with your loved one, then arrange with YOUR peers for a "time-out together"- talk , reminisce, "get your groove back!
The association with peers who know and understand you can be such a refresher!๐๐ซ๐ซ
Schedule the time, do not wait for a "chance encounter"!

Your 21-day Family Caregiver's Challenge: Thrive into 2025!๐Day 18 -"Create Your Safe Space!" ๐ง๐ฝโโ๏ธ
#calminthechaos #familycaregiver #createyoursafespace #habitsthatwillchangeyourlife #timeout #panicroom #lanaslittlethings
Day 18- on finding your "calm amidst the chaos" ๐ง๐ฝโโ๏ธof Family Caregiving
When there is the possibility of a real and present physical danger to you and your family, more and more people are building a "panic๐ฑ room"- a safe, secure separate area inside your home, accessible only to the family members and the authorities who can be called for help.
With this concept in mind- what is the "safe space"๐ง๐ฝโโ๏ธ for a Family Caregiver?
A place in your home or out in the garden, garage, patio,.. where you can go for a 5 or 10 (or longer) respite, lock the door and just have a time-out; when for example, there has been a disagreement, or your loved one lashes out at you because of the ravages of dementia on their minds, or because they are feeling angry and upset because of their illness, and you feel hurt , upset and overwhelmed; a place where you can get away to "reset".๐๐ฝ๐ฅต๐ฎโ๐จ๐ฎโ๐จ
โณ๏ธThe place where you can go to breathe, slow down, pray, cry, scream, and call a friend for emotional support and reassurance.๐๐ฝ๐ข๐ฒ๐โณ๏ธ
Caregiving is the "long-game" and finding the spot where you can just "pit-stop" for a refresher is crucial to your mental health.
Challenge: think of a safe space where you can just step away for the few minutes you need to calm your mind and heart. You CAN do this! You must! ๐ฎโ๐จ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐ง๐ฝโโ๏ธ

Your 21-day Family Caregiver's Challenge: Thrive into 2025!๐ Day 4: "Delegate!" ๐ก๐ต๐ฝ๐ด๐ฝ
(First aired 2023)
#delegate #delegatetasks #caregiversupport #familycaregiver #thrive #timeout
Day 4:
Too much to do? Too little time?
Overwhelmed?
DELEGATE!
There is only so much of you to go around, so how can you keep thriving with just 7 more days left in the year and feeling empowered through to 2025 without feeling like something the cat dragged in? (Just saying!)๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ
Ask!
There are friends, relatives, and health volunteers who can (and are willing) to assist you with whatever chores you need! They're probably just waiting for us to take off the "cape" and ask for help.๐ฆธ๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐ฆธ๐ฝโโ๏ธ
Does the person in your care need to have blood pressure/blood sugar monitoring done, do you need to collect medication, go to the supermarket, wash dishes, take out the garbage and cook - at the same time? A quick call is all you need.
Go bold!
Caregiving requires wearing several hats, and you simply cannot do it all alone. Asking and being vulnerable is a great way to self-care!
Do it today! Leave in the comments- how did it work? (It will!)๐ฅ๐
